Why Is This Happening?

There’s no single reason why people experience emerging mental health concerns. But things like stress, trauma, or sleep issues can play a big role.

It's not just one thing

Emerging mental health concerns can be linked to a mix of things. Here are some common factors associated with mental health changes. But having one or more of these factors doesn't mean there's anything wrong with you. It just means that intense emotions may lead to the kinds of experiences associated with emerging mental health concerns.

Having close family with mental health concerns
Going through stressful situations, like losing someone, bullying, or intense academic pressure
Experiencing trauma, something really scary or harmful, like abuse or a serious accident
Regular use of substances, including drugs or alchol
Feeling very disconnected, misunderstood, lonely, or not having close family or friends
Having existing mental health struggles
